I'm applying for the JET Program and I stand a pretty good chance in getting in. I got in a previous year but decided not to go because of my mother's diagnosis. I've done a lot with kids and education since then and have pretty decent fluency. However, my husband has never been to Japan, or even outside the State. He has a lot of worries naturally. And understands I have wanted to experience JET for years now. He's on board but even I see his fears. He's a homebody and worries about how he'll make an income there. He also has a car he is still paying off. I have told him to focus on getting an online education or his preferred certification while I work on JET. Japan is my dream and I don't mind this arrangement at all. I've been to Japan several times, have worked as an ALT and studied abroad back in university and do one month trips as often as I can.
Has anyone ever experienced bringing a hesitant partner on JET? Or any advice from other couples?
