Tried searching online for any stores in tokyo that sell similar style clothes as hot topic did in the 2000s but only old information or business articles come up. Is there any that specializes in selling band tshirts and memorobilia? All my metal tees i brought from america are becoming grey from use 🤣. Also interested in techwear recomendations. Post links if possible!

Off the top of my head, Village Vanguard might be similar.
There’s a shop called Richards on Takeshita Dori in Harajuku that sells band shirts. You should be able to find it easily since it’s street level. It’s kind of famous for its really aggressive, foreigner-hating signs on the racks.
(Please note I’ve never been to a Hot Topic so I don’t know if this is exactly what you’re looking for.)
EDIT: shops name
while you CAN find similar clothes here…the catch is that they will be 5x the price. especially if you’re looking in Harajuku. I haven’t found a hot topic equivalent that is also affordable. fucks here like to charge 3500 + for a “vintage” t-shirt
I can’t recommend a specific shop, but some of my university students wear shirts with 80s Western metal bands. Every time I’ve asked they’ve said they bought them at a used clothing shop.
WeGo might have some of the style you’re looking for.
Just order them online direct from the band, or from merchnow etc.
try mercari
Mad Dog Rockers in Yokohama, F.T.S. in Yokosuka, and a shop in Yokohama Chinatown but the name escapes me.
Also Koenji is worth a shot; TONS of vintage clothing shops plus its ground zero for Japanese punk, so you’re bound to find something.
There’s a place in Nakano Broadway specializing in secondhand (mostly Japanese) band shirts, posters, goods etc but can’t remember the name.
Blitz in Shibuya. Entire store full of band shirts.
I feel like most ppl mention VV more for their huge assortment of funky/subculture items and not so much band shirts, which I have no memory of ever seeing.
I did a quick search for ヘビメタルTシャツ and found these:
[METAL-LIFE](https://www.metal-life.com/)
[Metal is Forever](https://www.metal-is-forever.com/)
[Rakuten](https://search.rakuten.co.jp/search/mall/%E3%83%98%E3%83%93%E3%83%BC%E3%83%A1%E3%82%BF%E3%83%AB+t%E3%82%B7%E3%83%A3%E3%83%84/)
[BLACK TEETH](https://black-teeth.com/)
[Gekirock](https://shop.gekirock.com/) (mostly Japanese artists and more street fashion)
[Hardcore Chocolate](https://core-choco.shop-pro.jp/) (mostly retro Japanese sci-fi/horror type designs)
Maybe just me but I wouldn’t want to buy used band shirts, paying a premium for something that’s been soaked in someone else’s sweat and possibly vomit or other bodily fluids, especially when most the shirts I bought in the past were printed on the cheapest-feeling thinnest material I’ve ever worn.
Would definitely go to Koenji if I was in search for some obscure or funky things for cheaper than Harajuku, Shimo-Kitazawa and Kichijoji though.
Definitely village vanguard. It’s basically Japanese hot topic
Hot topic does ship to Japan, but they charge a heck of a lot for shipping.
A good tactic is to wait for the hot cash periods and use coupon codes that people post online or wait for the flash sales they have.
