What if WWE buys NJPW ?

WWE just announced the purchase of AAA on Wrestlemania weekend.

NJPW is deep financial straits. Most evidenced by not re-signing their last remaining star Tetsuya Naito.

New Japan has also lost a significant number of stars over the years to AEW & WWE.

What happens if NJPW is bought by WWE ?

  1. Yeah they aren’t buying NJPW. NJPW has too much of a relationship with AEW and AEW also has great relationships with CMLL/Stardom.

  2. well if its goes like with the triple A stuff… the japanese wrestling stars and legends will begin to job out to tozawa and he will be the new okada.

simple wwe style. nothing new there.

  3. Are you sure Naito wasn’t re-signed due to finances?

Not saying New Japan’s finances are in good shape, but everything I saw being reported was they couldn’t agree on the number of dates for him to work. He wants to wrestle but his knees are retiring him before he’s ready.

  4. Unlikely they do sell. Financially NJPW isn’t in the position this sub makes it out to be Naito didn’t sign because he most likely wanted more than he’s worth for especially with how destroyed he is. Realistically WWE would probably buy out Marigold considering it’s basically a flop and Rossy is a massive WWE bootlicker.

  5. They won’t sell. What’s with all this doom and gloom? Why would a 50+ year old company decide to sell to the WWE?

I have posted before in here stating this isn’t the first time New Japan has gone through a transitional period and won’t be the last time. I strongly urge people to read up on the history of the company as it is a tumultuous one. NJPW will be fine and has no need to sale to the WWE.

  6. Wouldn’t Tony absolutely buy it first? I guess maybe not since he’s basically killed it by taking all the stars.

  7. We have no idea.. WWE just bought AAA and we’ll have to see how that goes. My guess is WWE has NJPW run a little similar to how they’re ran now, but under the WWE banner and with more crossover stars.
I think it’s too early to tell especially with the new regime at WWE. How AAA is ran, will be telling for future WWE buyouts.

  8. The doom and gloom posts are getting pretty old. WWE buying AAA is an entirely different circumstance. As that was a family owned promotion that was in crippling financial difficulties for many years now.

All the reports point out that Naito, not resigning didn’t come down to finances. It seems to come down to scheduling as he wanted more dates and new japan want less. So please give it a rest with the sky is falling posts.

  9. I don’t think there’s any chance of this now. I really believe Tony would not let that happen at this point.

And some people are gonna hate that but it’s the reality we are seeing develop. We are all just waiting for the next shoe to drop here. This is massive. I do not believe Tony would just let WWE buy out his most important asset in this shifting landscape; Bushiroad.

  10. Where did the idea of financial distress come from in the first place? We are not running a deficit. Last year’s financial results were the second best ever.

  11. Unlikely for a couple of reasons

-New Japan is not in a dire situation where they have no choice to look for a buyer to avoid bankruptcy

-Acquiring japanese compagnies is quite hard because of regulations and reluctance from selling to foreigners

-WWE is probably not interested due to overexpansion and difficulty to sell the product to japanese audiences

  12. Stop fearmongering and pushing a false narrative, NJPW is NOT in deep financial straits as they still the most profitable promotion in Japan and Naito isn’t leaving over money, it’s was over the dates on his contract.

  13. That happening would be very unlikely, if it ever did happen though I’d never support NJPW ever again. fuck WWE

  14. Everyone signs up for CyberFight and realizes those are (currently) better products.

  15. The cube represents the obstacle of buying the company. It isn’t happening soon, but a lot can change months, years, from now.
