I'm a student from Canada currently studying software engineering, and I'm considering doing an exchange semester at Doshisha University in Kyoto next year. I’ve read through the official info, but I’d love to hear from people who have either studied there or lived in Kyoto.
If you have any experience with Doshisha or just student life in Kyoto in general, I’d really appreciate your thoughts on a few things:
- What is the student atmosphere like at Doshisha? Are exchange students welcomed and integrated into campus life?
- How is the Computer Science/Software Engineering program (even if only parts are taught in English)?
- What are some must-try activities or spots in Kyoto for students?
- How’s the cost of living as a student (especially with accommodation)?
- Do exchange students have access to any clubs, events, or communities?
- Any tips for a foreigner trying to make the most of a semester in Japan?
I’m also interested in learning a bit of Japanese while I’m there, so any suggestions for that would be great too. Thanks a lot in advance, looking forward to hearing your advice and experiences!
