  1. No chance Nissan is going to survive as a company. If they’re lucky and get over their own ego, they can sell themselves for a decent enough price before going bankrupt, but don’t think they’ll understand that in time.

  2. Did they hire another westerner to do the dirty work of laying off hundreds of people? Wow, someone likes to live on the edge. I would have my emergency go bag in order.

  3. Without the merger (or even with?) this was inevitable.

Failure to make EVs that compete with Tesla and Chinese makers is now a death sentence. For every auto maker. Toyota and Honda will be next.

  4. I don’t really understand the decision to not marge with Honda a while ago, seems to be the best possible chance they could’ve gotten/ will get before they go bankrupt..

  5. They tried to do a Mitsubishi without having the diversification of Mitsubishi. You can’t just not give the people what they want and get away with it

  6. Nii-sAAAAAAaaaaaan!!!! Nii-saaaaaaAaAaAAaAaan!!! Nii-saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!…

  7. Just a few weeks ago I bought a used 2022 Nissan Note hybrid from the car auction super cheap. Really loving it!

Also have a Nissan XTrail that has lasted me a good 10+ years. It has brutal fuel economy but other than that its been a fantastic car, esp for hauling stuff around.

Sad to see Nissan doing so poorly because I really like their cars.

  8. What they say when I listen to Japanese radio programs is hiring a foreign executive is a move to make when you want to cut because it’s socially difficult for Japanese executives to ruthlessly close down plants and make people lose their jobs. So I think this was anticipated.
