Hey folks,
So me and my fiancée are planning to apply for the MEXT scholarship to study in Japan, hopefully at Kyoto University. We both have bachelor's degrees and are looking at doing our master's there. But honestly, we’re a bit lost and hoping to hear from people who’ve done something similar.
The idea is:
Study in Japan for 2 years under MEXT
Then find jobs and switch to work visas
Eventually stay long-term if things go well
We’re already reading up on the process, but the info can get really overwhelming. It would mean a lot to hear from actual people who’ve been through this.
Some things we’re wondering:
Has anyone applied as a couple? Does that complicate things?
What’s life really like on the MEXT stipend? Enough for two?
How hard is it to find a job in Japan after graduation?
Anyone here go from student to worker to permanent resident?
We’re from Yemen and just trying to figure out if this is a solid path. Any advice, stories, or warnings would really help!
Thanks a lot in advance.
