Thoughts on Tsuji

Well, last few days I make some comments about Tsuji plans this year including probably losing Global title and then going on to eventually winning G1 Climax and to main event WK against Goto/Shingo (?)

But trying to elaborate on that further

  1. If Tsuji winning G1 how possible would be his match against Okada week later at Forbidden Door? I still remember him throwing shots at Rainmaker in pre-WK interview, imagining him winning G1 and after that calling out Okada for the match? Would be really good?

Yes, in terms of the result i don't see Okada losing the match (maybe draw?) but i don't think it will hurt Tsuji

  1. Now that seeming LIJ is shut down Tsuji need his own faction as a leader? I thinking they can just built the same unit with Hiromu and Shingo but under different name in a way of "spiritual successor" of LIJ?

Would love to see your opinions about that

I don’t think this would be very likely if we consider backstage politics. If Tsuji was to win the G1, I don’t think they would want him losing to an outsider a week later. Okada losing is probably out of the question too since AEW is very protective of their top guys. It’s why the only AEW wrestlers who lost at Wrestle Dynasty were midcarders who could afford to take loss.

Yeah, it’s probably likely at least 2 out of the 4 remaining members will end up being in the same unit. In my opinion, it should be under a new name since all of the original LIJ members (Naito, EVIL, and BUSHI) left the faction.

  2. What you have to remember is that Japanese pro wrestlers get a lot of creative freedom to just talk shit. It’s quite likely tsuji just threw a potential okada match out there without being told one was coming. In fact I’d say it’s more likely than not. You have to sorta take everything said in any context as a serious bit of kayfabe because wrestlers are always in kayfabe but also not necessarily the booking direction.

  3. Tsuji taking shots at Okada wasn’t storyline. Looking back on it, I think he was just genuinely pissed off at him.

There was A LOT of weird behaviour on Okada’s last shows, from Tsuji to Great O’Kharn. I’m pretty sure that Okada left NJPW under a cloud, with a lot of guys unhappy about it.

That considered, I think Okada would refuse a match with him if it was offered. In fact I’d go out on a limb and say he’d probably only be interested in a match with Tanahashi or one of his old buddies like Goto.

  4. I doubt he wins the G1, but I’d love him calling out Okada for a match.

Personally, I’m buying into the idea that Shingo might go out on his own. But I’d love for Tsuji and Hiromu (and Titán) to build another group: with Tsuji as the centerpiece. Besides Tsuji’s old friend, Zandokan Jr., not sure who else to add though

  5. I don’t think Okada wants anything to do with NJPW, at least for another year.
