what is this in my vegetarian maki?


hi! does anyone know what this yellow thing is in my vegetarian maki? it is starchy and tastes a little like wet bread. thanks!

  1. Looks like egg, but could it be fried tofu skin (aburaage) since it’s vegetarian?

  2. chicken, flounder, beef and preying mantis. It just looks like vegetables, but isn’t.

  3. Not egg.  I think it’s some kind of namafu, like a fish cake but made of wheat gluten.  It comes in sheets, tubes, and other shapes. 

  4. Which restaurant? If it’s 100% vegetarian / vegan, you don’t have to worry. It could be mushroom or tofu skin
