  1. >The JNTO is working to better target that market, including opening an account on a popular Chinese social media platform last fall.

Can confirm that’s true. I keep seeing them posting landscape photos on Rednote to attract Chinese tourists.

  2. I saw a gentleman speaking mandarin hock a huge loogie onto the ground at Fushimi Inari yesterday.

  3. I landed in Hong Kong airport from Seoul and was waiting at baggage claim. My flight was sharing the carousel with a flight from Guangzhou. Once those passengers came, they literally pushed me over just so they can get their bag. Actual shoulder checking and no apologies. They were standing right against me too, even though there was plenty of space to wait for their bag. Not all mainland Chinese people lack manners but fuck, that was a terrible way to start the trip. Once I got into Hong Kong city though, it was very pleasant and one of my favorite trips ever.

  4. I’ve been pondering to book a flight to Japan with a 20h stopover in Beijing (half the price) and you guys are making me tense lol. Is it really that bad? How bad is it spending 12 hours inside a flying can with mainlanders?

  5. Eh, I’ve generally seen better behavior from the recent groups of tourists, which is an improvement.

  6. Be careful of Chinese people with mobile phones in their hands or cameras on their heads, they may be filming videos, and when you talk to them, they will insult you with a tone that sounds kind but is actually Chinese swear words. It is pitiful to see those Japanese people laughing because they can’t understand Chinese, but it is uploaded to Chinese TikTok for Chinese people to see.

  7. I don’t understand Chinese gen z kids hating Japan and still come over.
