  1. Chinese. Chinese landlord. And it was done to push out residents and start illegally accepting Chinese guests.

  2. Those foreigners, up to no good, starting trouble in the neighborhood. It took one little rice scare, and now I’m living with my auntie in Kochi.

    3x the rice buying power!

  3. Landlord: 3 views 😴

    Greedy landlord: 8 views 😴

    Foreign landlord: 42,000 views 😎

  4. Good thing tenants have better rights than the landlord. That’ll get shut down easily

  5. I feel like Japan needs to step up and prevent foreign companies from being able to pick up residential units like this.

  6. I work in finance and deal with a lot of these as clients.

What needs to be bigger news and more outrage is that Singapore and China are giving HUGE subsidies to these companies to purchase property, as long as they are hiring one Singaporean or Chinese native.

Governments are literally sponsoring this gobble up of real estate

  7. Bloody disgusting. PRCS dont just rent profiteer in Japan but in other countries as well.

Average rent prices in Sydney increased almost 40% overnight, after the Chinese goverment insisted that students enrolled in overseas Universities attend classes in person in 2023.

These rent profiteers also blantantly flout building codes and the “renovations/remodelling” are usually done in a very substandard manner, mine had flooring that wasn’t remotely level and numerous violations of the firecode, my neighbour was basically living in a glorified closet with no access to natural light.

  8. The landlord being from the prc
    says enough…
And while foreigners can’t own or buy land in the PRC, those xxxxx keep buying up foreign land and houses, driving up prices for the local population.

  9. Yo why is this sub like 90% ragebait articles lmao. Who cares about the nationality of the landlord, we should be upset that there are people who can live thanks to other people’s rent.

  10. How are they raising the rent? I thought changes to rental contracts require approval of both landlord and tenant.

  11. Good to see Japan catching up with the rest of the world with this practice 🥰

  12. Gotta give it to the Chinese… going fire and brimstone wherever they go. They also did that with our Canadian market by sweeping all the condos in Toronto and Vancouver

  13. This article also leaves out one important detail — the new Chinese landlord shut down the elevator under the excuse of “maintenance” just to pressure the tenants to move out. It’s been out of service for months.
