NEED HELP LOCATING THIS PLACE

Hi everyone,

I’m 20 years old and half-Japanese. I’ve been looking for my father for as long as I can remember. It’s something that’s always been a part of me — this quiet ache of not knowing who he is, or what he’s like.

The only lead I have is that he used to be a manager at a place called Aurora Omise in Osaka City. I don’t know if the place still exists or what kind of establishment it is now. This detail came from my mother, but beyond that, I don’t have a photo, or anything more concrete.

I’ve carried this search in my heart for years, and it’s been incredibly hard not having any answers.

If anyone has ever heard of Aurora Omise, or knows of any resources that could help me trace former employees or business records from Osaka, I would be deeply grateful. Even the smallest lead could bring me a step closer to closure — or maybe even connection.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Additional Info:
My mother mentioned something about Osaka Higashi, but I’m not sure if that’s the same as Higashiosaka or a different area entirely.

  1. Do you know what kind of business it was? There are a couple Aurora’s on Google maps, ranging from hair salons to cafés. It would help to whittle them down.

  2. I have the exact opposite problem to you. I have a 21 year old half-Japanese daughter in Osaka/Kyoto who was taken from me by her mother when she was young. I won’t go into the details, but your post brought up a lot of feelings.

I really really hope you are successful in your quest. You don’t owe me anything, but I would love to know how things turn out for you.

    Best of luck!

  3. Are you sure “omise” is part of the store name. It may have just been tagged on to mean “the shop.”

It looks like there used to be a bar called Aurora in Shinsaibashi (on the east side of the main drag, which may account for the “higashi”), but it appears to be closed now.
