I recently heard of a story about how in 1945 a womans child was killed to keep a group of people hidden from american soldiers, that the woman was told to have her child stop crying by japanese soldiers and as hard as the mother tried her efforts were in vain and the japanese soldiers took the baby smashed its head and shot the baby to stay hidden

Why would they “shoot” the baby to stay hidden. Wouldn’t the gunshot be louder than a crying baby? The rock story seems more accurate
Same thing happened in mash except it wasn’t a chicken. That’s probably the entirety of the story. The Japanese fed the Okinawans propaganda about the horrible things Americans would do to them if the US won.
Check RBC News site , I remember watching something similar in the past on their broadcast.
