Hi! I just wanted to ask for some advice and information about being a language student in Japan.
My brother and I are planning to take a 150-hour Japanese course this September to meet the requirement for a student visa. Our goal is to move to Japan around July next year. Right now, we’re choosing between Fukuoka and Kobe, but we haven’t decided on a language school yet—if you have any recommendations, we’d really appreciate it!
A few questions:
- Besides caregiving programs and newspaper scholarships, are there any other scholarships available for language students?
- I’ve heard that if you maintain good attendance, some schools give a monthly allowance—is this true?
- We’re thinking of renting a private apartment because we’re both introverts and would prefer our own space to avoid potential conflicts with others. Also, my brother is gay, and we’re not sure how the local community might react—any insight on that would be helpful.
- Is it realistic to work a part-time job while studying? Can you still focus on learning Japanese, or is it too exhausting?
Thanks in advance for any tips or experiences you can share!
