No elevator, just 462 steps — Welcome to Doai Station, Japan’s ‘Mole Station’.

Located in Gunma Prefecture, Doai Station is one of Japan’s most unique train stations. The platform for the underground line is 70 meters below ground, and there's no elevator or escalator — just a long, echoing tunnel and 462 steps. It's often called the “mole station” for good reason. The descent (and later, the climb back up) is an experience in itself.
