Just saw perhaps the most disturbing thing in my life

Just arrived in Dobutsenmae station and I thought I’d post this because I’m seriously concerned. I witnessed an old man with his face disfigured like so bloodied and torn apart it wasn’t even a recognizable face anymore. I’ve never seen this much blood and gore in my life. His pants was also down. The police at the train station were trying to help but as I looked up the stairs there was a trail of blood. So this didn’t happen inside the train station. Whatever happened was outside he then went down for help.

I’ve been to this part of town before knowing it’s a little bit of a dodgy area but never would I thought I would witness this. Maybe an accident or an injury? Who knows but something about this seemed to give me vibes that maybe there was some assault given the rise in assaults happening in Japan at the moment. If it was an accident or a fall must have been a bad one.

Any feedback or hypothesis to what happened would be greatly appreciated given any wisdom on the area. I am a bit traumatized and actually concerned for the old man who seriously looked hurt.

  1. Maybe he fell down the escalator? I was in Ikebukuro station one day when a homeless lady tumbled from the top of one of the escalators all the way down and I and a few Japanese people helped pull her off before she would have gotten caught on on the gaps between the steps. Thankfully she did not get cut up much but she definitely took a big tumble and she was very disoriented.

  2. I heard some crazy youngsters beat up homeless old men with baseball bats. That might be it. Probably kicked him down there afterwards

  3. I’ve seen it happen before, last time it happened right in front of me, an old man fell due to heatstroke in the station and hit his face, there was a lot of blood🥺 so it could’ve been heatstroke, it’s very difficult for elderly people this time of year…

  4. It was a violent attack. Probably by Yakuza… foreign Yakuza! They were trying to human traffic his children in Shinsekai! With help from a live streamer! From America!

Or, y”know, they fell and messed up their face, but definitely the first one.

  5. I have seen many an old person tumble face first here. 🙁

I’ve spent a lot of time around there. I sincerely doubt there was such a violent attack–it was likely an accident. I’m sorry you had to see that. It might be good to talk to someone as it sounds traumatizing.
