I'll be moving to Yokohama on a work visa (engineer) in a few months and will need to find a place to stay for the first month or two while I find a permanent apartment to rent. I was in Japan as a student last year and while I enjoyed the dorm life a lot, this time I would like to have a bit more privacy than what a share house offers.
I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations or suggestions for websites to find weekly/monthly mansions from abroad? I was warned that Leoplaces have paper thin walls by some, but I'd assume the level to which this matters is very dependent on who your neighbors are, and how much noise you make. I've also considered just getting an AirBnB for a month, but was worried that even with the owners consent the ward office might not accept that as an address for my residence card. Does anyone have any insights on this? I'd probably be in Naka-ku.
I'm okay with spending a bit more than the average apartment since it's just temporary (probably around 13万/month max). Just need a place to register as my address so I can get my bank account set up and then work with a realtor on a permanent place. Does that seem doable?
Thanks in advance!
