Regarding the Japan-US tariff negotiations, Minister for Economic Revitalization Akazawa held a telephone conference with US Secretary of Commerce Lutnick.
Minister Akazawa held telephone conferences with Secretary of Commerce Lutnick from 8pm on the 3rd for approximately 45 minutes and from 8pm on the 5th for approximately 60 minutes.
After "reaffirming the positions of Japan and the US regarding US tariff measures and having in-depth discussions," Akazawa said, "we will continue to vigorously coordinate with the US side."
Minister Akazawa has visited the US a total of seven times since April 2025 to negotiate, but has not yet reached an agreement
