With Taichi in after a last second chance, I think it’s entirely possible they run an underdog babyface run to the semis or finals. While I would be in favor of this as it would be a nice little story and pat on the back for him, I think theres also potential to have him go all the way, setting up another Dangerous Tekkers reunion, this time at the Dome.
As a Taichi enjoyer, that would be great in any another year or scenario but this definitely would be the wrong choice booking wise. The winner of the G1 should be one of the younger guys with them winning at the Dome. I know this Taichi decision is probably unlikely and I’m probably overthinking it but the importance of the next generation winning this year and solidifying themselves as a top guy is crucial. I don’t know about anyone else, but I felt deflated when I saw Despe win last night over Fujita. Like with Taichi, I’m still a fan of Despe’s but it felt like the perfect time and it just didn’t happen. Again, maybe I’m just overthinking it but with Gedo’s booking as of late, I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibilities. Thoughts?
