On the 4th, Minister of State for Economic Revitalization Akimasa Akazawa responded to a group of reporters at the Prime Minister's Office in response to U.S. President Trump's statement that he would notify each country and region about imposing 10% to 70% tariff by saying, "(The Japanese government) is not planning anything in particular, and I'm not sure what the president will do."
He told reporters Trump said he would send notifications but Japan hasn’t received any official notice. Akazawa also said there’s no confirmed schedule yet for the Japan-U.S. trade talks that Japan hopes to hold early next week.
