On the evening of July 3, four people—two male customers in their 20s and two female staff in their 40s and 50s—were taken to the hospital with minor injuries after possible carbon monoxide poisoning at the indoor ski slope “Snova Shin-Yokohama” in Yokohama.
The facility detected carbon monoxide levels that could affect health with long exposure. The source may have been a vehicle used to groom the slope, but the exact cause is still unknown. After about an hour of ventilation, the gas was no longer detected.
The facility, which maintains a temperature below -3°C and has a 60-meter slope, shut down operations on July 4. They plan to increase ventilation and may reopen as early as July 5.
