Japan’s Toto launches smart toilet that scans, analyzes stool

  1. According to a Toto survey, while 76% of users check their stool condition after defecation, only 6% record the information digitally.

    Only 6%? 6% seems really high!

  2. I’d love to see one try to make sense of the fetid, watery, brown mulch that sprays out of me after a night on the beers.

    Can you imagine in the distant future, if we want to analyse our urine and/or stool, and on monthly/quarterly basis our samples will be collected and analysed without even visiting clinic. Through this many illnesses can be diagnosed in the very early stages. And this is where I would like to see the innovation happening.

  7. According to another source, it can record up to six people’s poo separately. Imagine your dad accidentally logs his as yours, and you’ll get to know his poo size on your app😆

  9. Reminds me of that one YouTube cartoon from a long time ago about the “Google Toilet” (can’t find the link unfortunately)

  10. For heath reasons I see this actually helping people who might not know about gut health until too late.

  11. On one hand I can see this being useful. On the other hand it seems like could lead to issues like those 23 and Me dna kits.

  13. I predict all kinds of things going into the toilet for testing. Sausage, unwanted vegetables, etc…
