My wife and I met in Japan when we were both foreign students there. I was studying in undergrad, and we moved to Europe for my grad school. But now, we’ve decided to make a big move back to Japan after my PhD!
Even if we are super excited, I don’t know much about the academic job market in Japan, except for the postdoc, I’ll have to apply for my own funding through JSPS. But what happens after? Is it super competitive just like Europe/US?
FYI, I'm in math department, and my Japanese is fine, I can teach in both Japanese/English. My wife not so much, she doesn't have much Japanese level. So my salary should be able to cover the cost of living of a family.
Thank you in advance for any insights!
