Marrying in city hall as foreigners

Hi everyone,
I’m an Indian citizen planning to marry my Filipina partner, who is a permanent resident of Japan. We’re aiming to register our marriage next month at a city hall in Japan.

She already went to the city hall to ask about the documents needed — but they told her they only know the requirements for a Japanese marrying a foreigner. So… even city hall was like “good luck with that.” 😅

So I’d really appreciate any help from people who’ve been through this as two foreigners getting married in Japan.

• What documents are required from both sides?
• Was the process smooth or frustrating?
• How long did it take to complete?
