I finally get Gabe Kidd after that New Japan Soul Tag 8 promo

I’ll admit, I didn’t understand Gabe Kidd at first. He always came off to me like he was putting on an act, so I thought he was just another “tough guy” trying too hard to be edgy. I didn’t buy into it, and honestly, I thought it was forced. But after his match with Tanahashi and especially the post-match promo and comments from Soul Tag 8, something clicked

That was raw. That was real. You could feel everything pouring out of him. Not just anger or bravado, but pain, frustration, pride, and maybe even a bit of redemption. There was no character there, just a man who’s been through a lot and finally let the world see the cracks under the armor.

It’s moments like that that remind me why I love NJPW. Wrestlers are allowed to be vulnerable and complex, not just larger-than-life caricatures. And for the first time, I truly got Gabe Kidd.

Respect.

Side note: I'm waiting for Connors to do the same. He is still coming off as force "tough guy" too.
