After a quick stop at Sakurai Futamigaura to see the iconic couple stones along the coast, we spent the morning of our sixth travel day in Okawachiyama, a hidden village nestled in the mountains, known for its rich porcelain heritage. Surrounded by forested hills and winding paths, we explored centuries-old kilns, ceramic walls, and quiet workshops that made this place feel like stepping into a living museum of Japanese craftsmanship. After Obuse in Nagano, it easily became my favorite small town.

Is that torii by the married rocks also porcelain/stoneware?
Looking at the pictures it really reminded me of Arita and the area around Takeo-Onsen where I spent some time last month, searching on Google maps I realized it’s indeed very close!
