Four Vietnamese suspects have been arrested for allegedly breaking into vacant homes and stealing items like speakers in Saitama Prefecture. The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating whether they were involved in approximately 200 repeat thefts in the Kanto region since April of this year.
The arrested individuals are all Vietnamese nationals residing in Kuki City, Saitama Prefecture: Nguyen Van Dong (40), Nguyen Cac Thanh (35), and two others.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, in May of this year, the suspects allegedly broke a French window to enter a vacant house in Konosu City, Saitama Prefecture, and stole a speaker and amplifier valued at a total of about 700,000 yen.
Footage from nearby security cameras and other evidence led to the suspicion that the four individuals were involved.
During questioning, one of the suspects stated, "I only transported the stolen items to the car," while the other three have denied the allegations.
Bags, watches, and other items believed to be stolen goods were found at the suspects' residence. The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating whether they committed around 200 repeat thefts across Tokyo, Saitama, Ibaraki, Tochigi, and Gunma prefectures since April of this year.
