Drawn by the sounds of coolness… “Wind Chime Market” at Kawasaki Daishi Temple, a summer tradition now in its 30th year

Chirin, chirin, chirin… The soft sound of wind chimes is filling the air at Kawasaki Daishi Heiken-ji Temple in Kawasaki City, signaling the arrival of summer. The temple’s annual Wind Chime Market began on July 17 and will run until the 21st.

This is the 30th year of the event. Over 800 types of wind chimes from across Japan are on display, made from materials like metal and ceramics, and come in a wide range of colorful and artistic designs. Visitors enjoy listening to the different tones and admiring the unique shapes—especially the "Yakuyoke Daruma Wind Chime," an original creation by Kawasaki Daishi that's especially popular.

One visitor, 55-year-old Masuda Misao from Yokohama, smiled and said, “There are so many rare and interesting wind chimes. The cool sounds are really soothing.”
