During a campaign event in Osaka, where LDP President Shigeru Ishiba was supporting a new party candidate, Shigeharu Aoyama, head of the Osaka LDP federation, was notably absent. Aoyama told Mainichi Shimbun that he was giving a speech elsewhere at the time and had opposed Ishiba’s visit during the election campaign.
Aoyama explained during a speech in Moriguchi City that he had openly opposed the Prime Minister’s desire to campaign in Osaka. He criticized Ishiba’s administration for its policies, stating, “The administration’s tax hikes without tax cuts and its lenient stance towards China are drawing criticism from LDP supporters. Will campaigning here really bring back the votes?”
