Unlike the absurd estimated tax system the US has, in Japan you will be notified exactly how much estimated tax to pay and when, if applicable, by your tax office after filing a tax return. You didn’t specify what type of income it was you received, but certain types of income that are temporary by nature are excluded from estimated tax, such as retirement income, miscellaneous income, temporary income.
