Estimated income tax payment on non-special collection income

I recently received a relatively large amount of income (~10m jpy) as a one-off lump sum outside of my regular work.

Is there any need to make any kind of estimated income tax payment now, or do I just need to declare it at the end of the year and pay the taxes then?

  1. Unlike the absurd estimated tax system the US has, in Japan you will be notified exactly how much estimated tax to pay and when, if applicable, by your tax office after filing a tax return. [Here](https://www.nta.go.jp/taxes/shiraberu/taxanswer/shotoku/2040.htm) is the NTA’s page on it. You didn’t specify what type of income it was you received, but certain types of income that are temporary by nature are excluded from estimated tax, such as retirement income, miscellaneous income, temporary income.
