Online hotel booking site Agoda has stopped working with fraudulent partners after problems where customers found their booked rooms were not actually available. On July 16, it was revealed that Agoda made the change back on June 26, after repeated complaints.
To fix the issue, Agoda is adding new tools, including AI to detect fake listings before they appear on the site, better customer support, and plans to offer compensation options for affected users.
Japan’s Tourism Agency had already asked Agoda to improve its operations in March. The agency says it will keep checking on the situation and Agoda’s progress.
