On the morning of the 10th, a British Royal Air Force fighter jet made an emergency landing at Kagoshima Airport in Kirishima City, Kagoshima Prefecture. According to the airport office, there were no injuries, and the airport is currently operating as usual.
According to the Kagoshima Airport Office, at a little past 11:30 a.m. on the 10th, a British Royal Air Force F-35B fighter jet made an emergency landing at the airport. Footage from an NHK camera at the airport showed the aircraft stationary near the runway as of 2 p.m., with no visible damage.
The airport office said that air traffic control had been contacted in advance by the fighter pilot, who reported a "potential equipment issue and requested an emergency landing." There were no injuries as a result of the landing.
The airport's runway was closed from just after 11:30 a.m., but it was reopened about 20 minutes later after the fighter jet was moved to a taxiway and safety was confirmed. This incident caused delays of about 20 minutes for six flights departing from and arriving at Kagoshima Airport, but the airport is now operating as normal.
