Hey all,
This will be rather a rant than a recommendation but there's no relevant tag, so here I go.
During our stay in Tokyo at the second half of July my kids wanted to go to the nearby BookOff to find some games for Nintendo Switch. The closest one was the one on Akihabara.
They found the 2 games they wanted, went to the cashier, showed the passport for tax free, paid, all good. The games remained sealed until the departure (3 weeks later), just to be in the safe side.
Imagine our surprise when we opened the boxes at home and instead of the game cards we saw small pieces of plastic with numbers and some Japanese text on them. The text said to bring the plastic to the cashier to exchange for the actual game card. Now I'm 12 000 kms away with two empty game boxes, two useless pieces of plastic and two very disappointed kids who spent their own saved money to buy the games they wanted.
I didn't see any signage at the store, and I suppose the cashier should do the exchange upon payment or direct us to the place where we can do this.
We have the receipt, we have the boxes, even the foil they were wrapped in. And the card transaction from the bank too.
We reached out to BookOff via the web form, but as it's Saturday I don't expect the answer, if any, earlier than Monday.
Will keep you posted.
