Hey everyone! My girlfriend and I are going to be staying in Kyoto for the first time for three nights. I'm torn between staying at Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto in Kawaramachi or staying at Hotel Gion Ichirin inside Gion.
Is it better to be within the proximity of all the food and transportation in Kawaramachi or do I want to wake up to the traditional Gion vibe every morning? Is the extra 10-15 minutes of transport worth staying deep inside Gion for the cool vibes?
I do want a memorable experience but I also don't want to be dreading having to walk to the hotel after a full day of exploring. Is staying inside Gion worth the "vibes"? I also heard it gets really crowded during the day but we plan on exploring Gion early in the morning and late at night to avoid crowds anyway.
