This will be my second time coming to tokyo and second time using the Shinkansen and last time I fucked up completely! I booked ahead of time on the smartex app because I needed to bring my luggage with me and used the QR code on my app to scan into the gates at tokyo station, I accidentally walked straight past the little paper with seat information that the gate spits out and went ahead with my walk to find the platform. I only realised after that I could get fined without this piece of paper if a train inspector decided to come past and it was needed to also get out of the station which made me panic the entire train ride down to Osaka. This time around I have booked through the same way and am planning to head to tokyo station much earlier so I have more time to figure out how to enter properly as I believe I didn’t even enter through the correct (QR code) gates last time and just rushed through because it was so packed.
Is it possible to head to the ticketing machines and scan my QR code to received a printed ticket I just put into the gates and head straight through? I know there is QR gates specifically made for the tickets on Apple wallet but I think I may have missed a step when I tried to enter previously, am I supposed to also tap my suica before/after scanning my Shinkansen ticket?
I ended up catching another bullet train from Osaka straight to KIX airport which I bought directly from the ticketing machine and all I had to do was put the paper into the ticketing machine to go in and to get out aswell, so I was wondering if I was also able to do this with my pre-booked Shinkansen tickets?
I do not want to have the same experience this time around so any advice would be welcome!
