Hello everyone!
Picking up a lot of tips here. I'm hoping to get a few more.
My family is coming with me to Yokohama for a business trip Nov 8-14 this year. We are 2 adults and a 2.5 yr old son, I will also be about 5 months pregnant. We're planning to stay ~5 days after the business part of the trip to have a little vacation. While we're in Yokohama, we will also have evenings together and maybe I can take a half day off. So I'm hoping we can see a bit of that area and Tokyo during the week and I'm debating whether we should try a different city for the second half of our trip?
Because we have a toddler (and all the stuff he needs to travel) and I'll be quite pregnant we don't want to move around too much. But we do want to see a bit of Japan because we've never been and who knows when we'll be able to make such a big trip again. I'm guessing there are many tourist day trips that leave from the yokohama/tokyo area so maybe our best bet is to stay in one place and day trip? But I've been reading about Kyoto in November so I'm tempted to take the family there for the second half of our trip? Or maybe there's another destination I should consider? If we change hotels, we would only do so once, I hope, then come back to Tokyo just to fly home.
So what do you think? Should we spend the whole trip in one hotel in yokohama? Or should we try a second home base for the latter half of the trip? How easy is it to travel with lots of luggage and a toddler? How easy is it to find day trips where we could see other cities/countryside if we choose to stay in one spot? Any other advice on what to see in November or what to do with a toddler is very welcome! TIA!
