  2. it might actually be wise to be nuclear capable. If you read the article the situation seems slow boiling and leading to dire circumstances

  3. Of course they should. China has it, Europe has it. There needs to be a nuclear power in East Asia as to counter China and North Korea. US can’t be counted on.

  4. I would be shocked if Japan wasn’t like Israel and didn’t have a secret nuclear weapons program. If they didn’t, that would be irresponsible.

  7. Silly article. Japan officially doesn’t have weapon but they have « research » military grade nuclear material.
    They have developed orbital rockets
    They have developed reentry vehicles

    Only a fool would think it’s a coincidence.

  8. it would be in japan’s best interests to do so. when push comes to shove, they can’t depend on america doing more than virtue signaling and making symbolic aid spending when push comes to shove (as ukraine found out in 2022 that our agreement to protect them if they gave up their nukes wasn’t worth the paper it was printed on).

  10. It’s not happening, stop trying to make it happen. A nuke on Japan soil is a non-starter. Unless you want protests in the streets.

    Japan has diesel powered subs. They’re capable of carrying a warhead. Diesel subs aren’t good enough for Second Strike, you need nuclear powered subs for that. Good luck getting that through the diet. It would take a massive investment and years. Then add public outrage again.

    People will say, it’s a good idea as a deterrent, I completely agree.

    Edit: Don’t believe anything I say. Talk with professors at the University of Nagasaki. Read their books. Go find organizations in Japan that talk about this very thing. Read the book Blowback by Chalmers Johnson.
