Dental work in US covered by NHI?

I had a recent root canal done in Japan that took ages but didn’t cost very much but wanted to know what quality of dental care I’ve actually been getting in Japan over the past 10 years so I decide to get checked out on my trip to see my parents in the US. The result was a $300 checkup fee and that then are wasn’t so bad but I have two cavities in the nearby area on two teeth that the doctor says should have been taken care of along with the root canal.
The cost for filling one tooth is about $400 so about $800 all up.
Since I know that I could get it all taken care of in one visit here in the US versus who knows how many in Japan, I was wondering if anyone had any experience getting reimbursed through NHI for dental work done in the US. I have the forms for the dentist to fill out that are in both English and Japanese but worried that they might be denied…any advice would be appreciated!
