A Chinese woman arrested last month on suspicion of assault in a slashing incident at JR Tokaido Line's Yokohama Station has been found to have used a knife hidden in a ring to carry out the attack.
The incident occurred on the 28th of last month when the suspect, 35-year-old Pan Kang, a Chinese national, allegedly slashed a 37-year-old woman's right arm with a knife on the platform of JR Yokohama Station, causing minor injuries.
Police interviews since have revealed that Pan used a knife concealed within a ring. The ring, with a diameter of about two centimeters, had a button that would spring out a six-millimeter-long blade.
Pan stated she carried the ring for "self-defense against gropers" and admitted to the charges during questioning, saying, "I got furious when the woman cut in front of me at the station."
