My local supermarket always plays those jewelry box instrumental versions of popular songs, similar to the ones they have at karaoke. I was just wondering about the law that covers those here.
Western YouTubers claim they will get demonetized and copyright stricken for just humming a popular song, let alone singing it.
Maybe it's as simple as western countries are way more litigious than Japan, but I'm curious if anyone has any insight to this phenomenon. And does anyone actually like hearing the melody of popular songs with changed instruments and without any lyrics?
