TL;DR A Tohoku Shinkansen bullet train made an emergency stop near Tokyo after its safety brakes were automatically activated, halting services for nearly three hours. JR East is investigating the cause of the incident, suspecting a malfunction onboard.

What’s up with all the Tohoku Shinkansen problems this year?!?
I saw a message on the train in Tokyo today that the Akita Shinkansen was halted due to a bear collision.
Apparently nettouyos on Twitter started claiming “It was probably due to a foreigner, right? But JR East is hiding it because they want to support immigration and let foreigners take away jobs from locals even in railway. We should close our borders. Foreigners are causing trouble everywhere. They are making trains late, they are bringing bears to civilian areas, they are speaking in a foreign language which means Japanese culture is in danger, foreigners are all surviving on welfare paid by Japanese tax money, Foreigners should just leave Japan, Foreigners are the worst, Foreigners are making Japan collapse.”
Been planning out this year’s Japan trip in detail since June and have been looking up various train connections (shinkansen and local lines) and more often than not they were delayed, cancelled or had other problems. Wtf is going on in Japan?
