AEON announced on the 31st that it will lower the price of U.S.-grown rice sold at their “AEON Style” supermarkets and other locations. The new price for 4 kilograms of California-grown rice called “Karoyaka” will be 1,980 yen (excluding tax), which is a 700 yen reduction from the previous price. This price drop aligns with the 5-kilogram government reserve rice also being sold at AEON for 1,980 yen (excluding tax) starting June 1. This move aims to encourage more customers to purchase the California rice option, which was first introduced in June with an original price of 2,680 yen (before tax). By matching the price of the government reserve rice, AEON aims to boost sales of the California rice.
