Hi All, I’m living in Japan and have finally had my driving license transferred to a Japanese one recently! I’ve been wanting to register to car sharing service (I happen to have an Orix car available to the people living in my building).
But as a foreigner, I have too many middle names for Japan system 😭 I’ve had issues before with various administrative systems but always managed to go through them.
But Orix car sharing registration, I cannot and the customer service wouldn’t tell me why my applications are always refused. I tried with writing my name in different ways, tried different credit cards, but nothing works.
Has anyone managed to go through it?
I keep trying changing small things every time, but might try Times car sharing soon. Does anyone knows if I may get better chances with Times?
Thanks!

I feel you I have 4 « secondary first names » and it’s quite complicated most of the time… I recently registered to TimesCar without any issue tho, I just filled up as many letters as I could in the first name field and it worked first try. Never tried to register Orix tho
I believe Rakuten CarShare ‘resells’ Orix slots, so if you happen to have a Rakuten membership already, you can easily sign up for the sharing service. Your orix station should be available but you can bypass Orix registration.
I am not using Orix as I am happy with Times for over 8 years now but I could use it with my Rakuten car share setup but there is no car nearby for me to use it so I cannot tell anything about the registration process.
But one thing, which can be issue, is your name on the credit card the same as the your name? or do the might have a different spelling, which might not work and cause the current issue. Of course with long names it might not fit and

As others said there is Rakuten car share, which is using Orix and this might work. Also Times probably does have more stations and it might be easier to register. Or if you happen to have Mitsui car share nearby, they might be an alternative, too.
Ask your bank to sort it out. If someone uses exactly the same name that is registered at the bank it should work. The bank should be able to tell you what is wrong.
In the worst case scenario you might need to change the way your name appears at the bank so that it matches your driving license.
