
On July 4th, Nara Prefecture enjoyed clear weather due to high pressure, but temperatures soared. In Nara City, the temperature reached a high of 37.3 degrees Celsius by 4 PM. Despite the heat, deer were spotted cooling off in the gutters at Nara Park.
Photos show deer relaxing in the shade of road gutters near Nara Park, with mist installed for cooling purposes. Around 3 PM, several deer were seen resting quietly in the shaded gutters between the sidewalk and the road near the south side of the Nara Prefecture Office. Some foreign tourists, waiting at a signal, smiled at the sight of deer quietly cooling off in the narrow shaded gutters.
A company worker in his 30s, visiting from Mie Prefecture with his family, shared that he hadn’t anticipated such high temperatures. Despite the heat, his child delightedly commented on the deer resting, saying, “The deer are taking a break,” making the visit worthwhile.
The weather forecast by the Meteorological Agency for July 5th predicts mostly cloudy skies with moist air, leading to rain and thunderstorms in some areas. The expected high temperature is 36 degrees Celsius, while the low is forecasted at 27 degrees.
