Is visiting Japan during Christmas and New Year a good idea?

Hi everyone,

I’m planning a trip to Japan from December 20th to January 3rd, and I’d love to hear your thoughts. Is this a good time to visit?

Since it’s the Christmas/New Year period, I’m wondering:

• How busy do tourist spots get around this time?

• Do shops, restaurants, and attractions close during Christmas or the New Year holidays?

• I’d like to visit Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Mount Fuji, and also spend a day at Disneyland and Universal Studios… Will the holidays make this difficult or extra crowded?

• Are there any special events or traditions we shouldn’t miss during this season?

Basically, I’d like to know if this is a recommended time for a first trip to Japan, or if it might be better to go at another time of year…
