Last year I made a post about taking portraits of the wonderful people I met on a small island in Okinawa. Somehow it got 5K upvotes. Took me by surprise. Now I’m excited to let everyone know that I am currently exhibiting those very photos at an art gallery in Ishigaki!

Still can’t believe any of this is happening. Feels surreal. Okinawans are truly amazing.

Unfortunately there’s only a couple days left of the exhibition. It’s been a whirlwind so far. The opening reception was incredible. Had a live sanshin performance by one of the subjects in the photos. Many of the subjects in the photos visited with their families. I was able to gift them each a gallery-level print. Such a great time all around.

If you’re visiting Ishigaki Island this week, you’re more than welcome to stop by and say hello. I’ll be there! Free entry. Everyone is welcome. Especially fellow redditors!

  2. Congrats! Ishigaki is a lovely islands with lovely people. Special mention to Iriomote too.

  3. That’s great! I haven been to Okinawa in nearly 25 years and really need to get back.
