Hi all, I’ve done some research but I’d like to hear from people with experience.
I want to work in IT at an international company in the future. Waseda’s FSE (Science & Engineering) has computer science, but I can’t apply there because it requires SAT + AP or ACT, and I only have the SAT. That leaves SILS (School of International Liberal Studies) as my option.
My concern is that SILS doesn’t offer computer science or IT-focused courses. At the same time, I like that SILS is more international and flexible, since I’d like to enjoy college life rather than only focusing on a very competitive program. I’ve also seen some SILS graduates go into IT and related jobs, which makes me think it could still be possible.
I’m not asking anyone to decide for me, just hoping to hear from people with real experience. Does anyone know if going to SILS can still lead to IT work in an international company? Do employers (in Japan or abroad) care more about the specific degree, or would having a Waseda SILS background plus skills/internships be enough?
For context, I’m still deciding between IT or business, and I might also take the ACT if I have enough time before the application starts.
Thanks!
