Hi! I’m heading to Japan for the second time to celebrate my 40th birthday for a week in Tokyo. Second week of September.
Most of the week will be for shopping for game soundtracks, collectibles, and eating/filming. But I’m looking for something to contrast the city with a more peaceful vibe that includes more nature and history.
On my first trip we spent a night with the monks on mt. Koya and Okunoin cemetery was such an amazing place. It felt ethereal and so peaceful. This was 2022 and I still think of this place often. Sadly it’s a bit out of the way and I don’t want to be rushed for time since this trip is only a week. Is there anything like this right outside of Tokyo? It would be okay for me to stay over night and head back to the city after.
Since it’s my 40th, my wife is giving me a week. We just had a baby so I couldn’t make it a larger trip this time. lol. Next time will be with them.
