Hey guys. So I've lived in Japan on-off for the past few years (like a year in Japan, then a year back in my home country, then a year in Japan, etc). And this has made me realise one thing: for some reason, whenever I'm in Japan, my hair instantly gets wrecked.
For context, I'm a white person with very fine wavy hair that goes past my shoulders. When I'm in my home country (UK), it looks fine and healthy and has a nice shine. But just a few days/weeks in Japan, regardless of season, will make it frizz something awful and look super dry and damaged literally year round.
I use the same products as I did in the UK, so it can't be that. I also sleep on a silk pillow, and blow dry my hair on low/cold settings. I tried using extra conditioner but it just makes the hair on my scalp look greasy even if I only apply it on the ends.
Nothing so far has helped, and this is seriously damaging my self confidence and just makes me embarrassed to go out. I'm this close to just wearing a wig full time lol.
So I guess my question is, does anyone else have the same issue? And if so, is there anything I can do, or am I cooked?
PS. Before anyone asks, no I'm not a digital nomad, I just lived in Japan on different visas. Student, WH, and now work.
