I've lived in Japan for 5-ish years now, and I want to know if I'm making a really stupid decision.
I currently work in Japan as a mechanical engineer. Pay is decent for someone at the level of career I am in(for japan). Life is comfortable, job security is great, the people I work with are great. The only issue I have is a constant sense of sucking at my job and not liking it much.
Opportunities are coming up to get a full-time inhouse English<->Japanese translation/interpretation seishain gig. Location is in one of the big cities, which is great since I live in the middle of nowhere now, pay is around the same if slightly higher.
I worry though that I would be making a huge mistake for what is potentially an industry with one foot in the grave. I'm confident that I would be great, but its making me hesitate. I was hoping someone could convince me one way or the other :c I assume being a seishain will keep my job security high but idk….
