Update: Four men attack 2 Chinese men with iron pipes; rental car used to escape found

On the morning of July 31, a violent assault took place near JR Kanda Station in Tokyo. Four men attacked two Chinese men in their 30s with iron pipes and then fled the scene.

According to police, the incident happened around 9 a.m. on a street in Kanda-Sudacho, Chiyoda Ward. The victims, who were walking when the attack occurred, suffered head injuries but are expected to recover. They told police they do not know the attackers.

A witness said, “There was shouting for about five minutes. I saw a man in a work helmet walking back and forth. I never imagined something like this would happen here—especially in the morning.”

Investigators later found the getaway car, a rental with Osaka "Naniwa" license plates, abandoned in a parking lot about 9 kilometers from the scene.

Tokyo Metropolitan Police have seized the car and are searching for the four suspects.
